Massage Experience

The most important benefit of body work is ENHANCED BODY AWARENESS. Ideally massage treatments are a COLLABORATIVE ENDEAVOR between the therapist and the client, where the client’s role is to pay attention and provide feedback to the therapist regarding their experience. Sometimes the work can be painful, but it is important that the client voice their own limitations and the therapist work within their tolerance. I like to call this RIDING THE EDGE OF INTENSITY.

As a therapist, it is my responsibility to be sensitive to the needs of the client from multiple perspectives. The most obvious is to be sensitive to the tissue, and work out the knots and kinks effectively and compassionately. There is also the comfort level of the client based on their individual needs for conversation, supports, blankets…. Clients and therapists as individuals are unique and it’s important to remember that each session is unique too. My treatments never become rote or mechanical – I’m always responding to the needs of the moment, and welcome any feedback that can help me tailor your experience to suit you best.
